Design description
The RFE consists of five fields. Each field consists of 96 plots, in which 24 fertilizer treatments are replicated four times and arranged in a completely randomized block design. The plots measure 12 x 12 m. Originally all fields carried the same 9 year rotation, but in 1965, Field 1 was switched to a modified 9 year rotation and Field 5 to a 2 year rotation. Fields 2, 3 and 4 remained in the original rotation. These rotations are described below as original 9 year, field 1 modified 9 year and field 5 modified 2 year. From the published literature fertilizer treatments for selected plots on Field 2 only could be found. The individual factor levels identified are described below.
