Treated and untread cattle slurry application on grassland

Objective
To investigate the effects of anaerobically digested slurry and non-digested slurry on soil characteristics and crop yields
Description
A field experiment was established in a grass-clover ley in 2011 to study effects on important soil and crop characteristics when the slurry from a herd of organically managed dairy cows is treated by anaerobic digestion.

History
Organic milk production was established at Tingvoll experimental farm in 1989, replacing the previous conventional sheep production. Since then, soil nutrient supply has been manure from its own herd, biological nitrogen fixation and liming.
Management
Organically managed since 1991.
